Sequoia's new campus will carry on a 58-year tradition of providing award-winning care to the community. The new hospital campus design will include:

  • Expanded 8,740 sq. ft. emergency room services
  • Family focused Birth Center with private rooms
  • Comprehensive ambulatory services
  • New four-story, 148,000 sq. ft. pavilion
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Center
    • Complete medical and surgical services
    • New main entrance with two lobbies and free valet parking
    • Terraced gardens and healing garden with fountain
  • New medical office building
    • Physician offices
    • Outpatient Surgery Center
    • Outpatient imaging and lab services
  • New, convenient four-story parking garage and additional surface parking

The new Sequoia Hospital campus will be one of the most advanced health care facilities in the Bay Area.  Benefits of the new 167 bed hospital campus include:

  • Larger, private rooms - improved infection control for patient safety, enhanced patient care and comfort, with enough space for family to visit and stay overnight
  • New consult rooms - better integration of care and communication between physicians, families and patients including portable medical records and advanced IT capabilities
  • Healing environment - soothing natural interior colors, increased use of natural light, flooring designed for noise reduction
  • Landscaping - new landscaping incorporating the existing trees and adding terraced front gardens and a water wall
  • Green building - reusing existing facility to save resources, converting ¾ acre of pavement to new landscaping, campus designed to accommodate future medical advances
  • IT advances - wireless technology and paperless records, wireless collection of patient vital signs and integrated electronic systems for bedside point of care


Timeline - Projected Dates

  • New parking garage beginning construction - February 2008
  • New medical office building beginning construction - Summer 2009
  • Parking garage complete - Summer 2009
  • Existing hospital seismic retrofit- Fall 2009
  • Medical office building complete - Summer 2010
  • New pavilion construction beginning- Winter 2009
  • Pavilion complete - Spring 2012
  • All seismic projects complete- Spring 2013
